One Hundred Posts!! Another Milestone. . . .

One Hundred Posts!

Number of visitors as of 12.45pm GMT
21,262.

Wow!

I have had so much fun doing this and there is a lot more to come.

Still at number one, The Peter Cook Feature - loads of hits today.

You would never guess the second most popular. . . . . . . . .
Fender Urge 1 Stu Hamm Mexico!
Not sure why but almost every day, this one takes a hit.

As I think I mentioned on the 20,000 visitor post, I can usually
tell what has come up on sale, due to the number of page visits
to the one I have of the same model.

Over the last year, I have started to narrow down what I play
on a fairly regular basis and the others get pulled out for a trip
to rehearsal, every now and again.
It still feels like playing with a new toy, on most occasions, so
there is no excuse to get bored.

I have been playing a lot of T-40's recently and with some
fiddling, have found a few more enjoyable sounds.
Gig next week - wooden stage, time to try out my new sound
isolator and see what difference it makes.

I still struggle with the photography bit - always a challenge to
get consistent shots - I thought I would share a few random ones
to mark "Post 100".

One of my best shots, I think.
This took me ages to set up and light.
May not be perfect in many respects, to a real photographer
but hey. . . . how could you not just love this??

Here's to the next 100 posts.

See you soon

Cheers. :)

Aria CSB-300, a bass blast from the past. . . .

I came across these pics, this morning - a blast from the past!

This one has long since gone but I kept it's big brother, the
CSB-450, which I will do another time.

Still sorting out stuff about the unique Jaydee - will get onto
that one as soon as I can.

In the meantime. . . . . Aria CSB-300 Short Scale Bass.

A great bit of kit - very fast to play, this had perhaps the lowest
action I have ever seen on a bass - under 2mm and no buzzing.

It went to someone who had one from new and then sold it.
This, I think was a nostalgia buy, something I have been guilty
of many times.

Cheers. :)

Ibanez ST- 980 8 String and ST-824 Studio Basses. . . .

Saturday morning, lots of outside jobs to be done and it's raining. . .
Cats and Dogs!!
To those not familiar with the phrase = Raining a lot!!!!

So, I thought I would just post up some images and spend a few minutes
here, while the rain is at it's heaviest.

Ibanez basses of their Classic period are just brilliant.
I have said this before and I'll say it again, it's no wonder that so many
famous artists took up playing Ibanez.

I am not going into any major descriptions on these today - I will be doing
a feature on the 8 String and will include some details on the Studio 4 String,
another time.

I am hoping soon to finally get round to the Jaydee Twin Neck.
Watch this space.

Still raining - think I'll put the kettle on!

Cheers. :)

Acoustic Separation. . . . . .

Acoustic separation - all sounds a bit technical!
This is my latest toy and still not tried out!!

There are several venues we play at, with either proper stages
about 1200mm - 4 foot off the dance floor or more commonly,
something about 300mm - 1 foot off the floor.
These all cause certain sound issues, especially for the bass and drums.
Some of these places are worse than others but it is still a concern.

So, in an attempt to kill "boomy bass" I have knocked up this.

These things are available to buy and that is what I would have done but
the standard size was a little too small and the larger one was too big!

So, I bought the correct foam and put the rest of it together in about an hour.
Hoping it makes a vast improvement, I'll be using it live in a couple of weeks.

Fingers crossed - I'll let you know how I get on.
Smoke and mirrors, Snake Oil or a genuine improvement.

Cheers. :)

Hello to all out there in Guitar and Bass World.

Hi to all of you out there.

No pics today, there is still a long, long way to go but I thought
the today, I would invite you to drop me a line, if you have a
collection - any size will do.
It could be Guitar, or Bass, or both. . . . What do you have?

When I started this blog, I never imagined I would get this far
in this period of time - I thought a post now and again would do!
It started off very slowly and picked up speed, with most of
the posts in one month being about Peter Cook, the guitar builder.
There are now a total of 95 posts, including this one.

I had a look at the "Stats" section, over the weekend and found
that up to now, I have had just over 19500 visits to my blog!!
WOW!

So, to all of you who have popped in for a quick look, or taken
a little more time and then visited again, thank you for dropping in.

Drop me a line - Where are you, what do you play, what do you collect?
Would be great to hear from you.

Cheers. :)

Fender Precision Bass. . . . .

This lovely Precision has been with be for a few years - rehearsed
with it, gigged with it and polished it.
When this was first played, Margaret Thatcher had been PM for
a short time, The Police and Blondie were in the charts, mobile
phones, texting and internet were yet to get started and petrol
was a fraction of what we pay for it now!

So considering it's age, it has done very well and I have looked
after it as well as I could, during my time of ownership.

It found a new home yesterday and I'm certain the new owner
will enjoy and care for it as much as I did.
He had barely got it home when he sent me this image.

Set in the middle of some other fine instruments he has, it looks
absolutely gorgeous.
I do have some shots of my own but none as good as this one.

Thanks Paul, hope you enjoy the old fella.

Cheers. :)
