heartbreaking decision to sell my most treasured basses but thatβs what this
virus has done. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">So here
is an Axis Bass Guitar built by Peter Cook this is Number Three out of eight
basses that he built in the Axis series, this is a very very rare and desirable
guitar. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Peter
Cook was best known for building a lot of the amazing basses for John
Entwhistle of The Who, he also worked for Pete Townsend and many others he was
also responsible for the Ned Callan range of guitars so this is an exceptional
hand built bass built by a master craftsman.</span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">The neck
and body of the guitar is Rose Wood the stripes are Maple. It has an Active On
Board Parametric Tonal System, the circuits of which were created by Tony
Koorlander. Has both an XLR and Standard Jack Socket, Grover Tuners. This was
streets ahead of anything around at the time. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Has an
amazing range of tonality, cosmetically itβs in excellent condition with very
few dings, itβs been played mainly in studio settings rather than live and not
that often at that. The action is low and fast but can be adjusted, its truly
an original and I am really loathe to part with it. </span></span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: normal; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; mso-margin-top-alt: auto;"><span style="color: #0b5394; font-size: medium;"><span style="font-family: "Times New Roman", serif;">Condition
is Used. Buyer Collects. </span></span></p>

I have found myself reaching out for one particular instrument, over and over again, during these troubled times and strangely enough, it's a guitar! Nothing fancy, it's not an expensive custom build, it has been well used during it's life but much loved by all it's owners, I'm sure.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia;">What is it. . . . . .? An old Ibanez SB70! We have just bonded, it's as simple as that! I have said this on many occasions, every now and then, you come across something that just feels right, no matter what is says on the head, there is just something about it. Than's not just my opinion, several other people I know have simply said. . . WOW!! I quite agree with them!</span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgicfYYYAlS9UUIoSqGU6ydV-Od2HdEFTsudxs9QfZ_TiA-0XCZoQOofdAIR1XJ7PpmFOUZ4h2KnQDw2CCr6zgh-5eyDj71Z5cTj4z2ZCzpTv8saZ3szg8bm8WgVybuX2t9kcBNFGUSWKE/s800/Ibanez+SB70.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="600" data-original-width="800" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgicfYYYAlS9UUIoSqGU6ydV-Od2HdEFTsudxs9QfZ_TiA-0XCZoQOofdAIR1XJ7PpmFOUZ4h2KnQDw2CCr6zgh-5eyDj71Z5cTj4z2ZCzpTv8saZ3szg8bm8WgVybuX2t9kcBNFGUSWKE/w400-h300/Ibanez+SB70.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><p><a href="https://flatericbassandguitar.blogspot.com/2010/09/ibanez-studio-sb70-rare-one.html">Ibanez SB70</a><br /><span style="font-family: georgia;"><br /></span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia;">Take care and stay safe.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: georgia;">Cheers. : )<br /></span></p>Flat Erichttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03076286506492272852noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-96757650617471220.post-11218855193983361462020-10-08T03:00:00.000-07:002020-10-08T03:00:33.569-07:00Eddie Van Halen.<p><span style="font-family: verdana;"> <span style="color: #38761d;"><b>The 6th of October was a very sad day for anyone that loved his music and for all those millions of guitarists out there, who on first sight, couldn't believe their eyes.</b></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><span style="color: #38761d;"><b><img alt="" class="size-full wp-image-5225 alignleft lazyautosizes lazyloaded" data-orig-sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" data-orig-src="https://oralcancerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Eddie-Van-Halen.jpg" data-sizes="auto" data-srcset="https://oralcancerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Eddie-Van-Halen-200x150.jpg 200w, https://oralcancerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Eddie-Van-Halen-300x226.jpg 300w, https://oralcancerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Eddie-Van-Halen-400x301.jpg 400w, https://oralcancerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Eddie-Van-Halen.jpg 480w" height="361" src="https://oralcancerfoundation.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/Eddie-Van-Halen.jpg" width="480" /> <br /></b></span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: verdana;"><span style="color: #38761d;"><b>I was one of the first lucky few to see him in the UK, 13 dates into a UK tour, with Black Sabbath. <b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">In lockdown, it was understood that everything came to a standstill, including me playing anything. . . . well almost, I just dont seem to have the heart/feel the vibe.</span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">Now things are opening up, with only localised lockdown, it's a shakey start for many shops, pubs, eateries etc but for specialised music venues it is a non starter. </span></span><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;"> </span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">I can think of a bucket load of places, with some very happy memories, that are small and intimate and are brilliant places to see live music but in my mind's eye, I can't see a lot of them being around in the future. </span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">Where does that leave the growth of new bands and music and how will people who are hungry for that live experience get their fix? At this stage, I have no idea.</span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">Perhaps up and coming bands will break out on line but standing shoulder to shoulder, screaming out the lyrics and being at one with the whole experience, that is a long way off! </span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">It really is a case of Watch this space.</span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">I have my fingers and toes crossed that some will make it through to the other side.</span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">Stay safe, wash those hands and hang on to some hope.</span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;"><br /></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia, "Times New Roman", serif;"><span style="color: #38761d; font-size: small;">All the best.</span></span></b><br />

Hi. : )</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">In January, I thought that I could launch myself into getting the blog rolling again, starting with a unique Telecaster project but once again, things got in the way and this is the first post since January. . . . . Shame on me!</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">Since January, the whole world has changed and I find myself sitting here this morning, thinking about the performing musicians of the world, who's life's have be changed way beyond they could have ever imagined.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">I have many friends who are amateurs, semi pro and professional and it doesn't matter what level you are at, we are now all affected in the same way.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">No stadiums, parties, weddings, clubs, pubs, festivals. . . . nothing - the nearest thing to live music has been on the streets on the clap for the NHS but these has pretty much now stopped and everything else has been streamed on line.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">A great deal of effort and imagination has gone into these and for the time being that is the way things are going to be.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">I seriously doubt I will be gigging this year and with so many venues under so much pressure to stay afloat, where would I, you, your friends, your heroes get to play anyway. </span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">Since lockdown, I have barely played a guitar or bass, which is sort of weird, given that in reality, there has been a lot of spare time to do so and plenty of instruments to choose from! I think it may have something to do with not having any goals to aim at - new numbers, rehearsal etc. Hopefully this will pass and my enthusiasm will return.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">I hope all of you that have landed here can look forward to returning to the way things were in the future but I think it will be some time before that will become reality.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;">Stay safe and keep playing.</span></strong><br />
<strong><span style="color: #38761d; font-family: Georgia;"></span></strong><br />

<br />
I have been messing around with some projects recently, an old Eko bass, SB900 and an old and slightly battered but much loved, Greco GO II Guitar, as the outdoor things I should be doing just aren't that attractive in the wind and the rain!<br />
I'll keep you posted on how I get on.<br />
In the meantime, here are some pics from older posts to keep you going. : )<br />

<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">This is post number 249 and on October the 6th, my little contribution to the world of Basses and Guitars, will be ten years old!</span></span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">Yes, Ten Years Old!!</span></span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">In the early days, I was putting out over fifty posts a year, with a pile of information, some of it useful!! : )</span></span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">There were off the shelf instruments, customs, specials - all sorts and on top of that I did features about Peavey, the T Series, T-40 and T-60 as well as a large feature on Peter Cook, the guitar builder and member of the band, July - all was buzzin'!</span></span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">I also did an extended piece about Reeve Guitars, which attracted a lot of interest, as did the magazine feature I did, with Lars Mullen.</span></span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;"><br /></span></span></span></b>
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">Then, things changed and I couldn't find enough time to dedicate to this blog on a regular basis - that's life. I now feel that I can get back into it and as it is the 10th anniversary and the next post will be number 250, I think I will climb aboard again and kick start this blog back into life.</span></span></span></b><br />
<b><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="color: #38761d;">I may start a parallel blog, sort of a 2019 remix - not sure yet but what I can say is, if you were with me from the beginning - Thank You and I hope to keep you interested.</span></span></span></b><br />
